Continuing the long standing tradition of the Oxford Business Network for Africa’s annual event; the Oxford Business Forum continues to be held in close partnership with Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Past conferences include:

11 – 12 March 2016: Oxford Business Forum Africa 

The theme of the Oxford Business Forum Africa 2016 ‘Unreasonable Africa’ explored the reality of doing business in Africa which focused on celebrating and understanding the bold visions, decisions, and successes of business people on the continent.  Speakers included Trevor Manuel, Former Finance Minister in South Africa; Dolika Banda, Former MD of the CDC Group; Colin Coleman, MD Goldman Sachs Sub-Saharan Africa and Tara Fela-Durotoye, CEO and Founder of House of Tara International.

22 – 23 May 2015: Oxford Africa Conference

The 2015 event focused on the theme ‘A Continent on the Move: People, Politics and Business across Borders’. Held in partnership with the Oxford Africa Society, the conference investigated the current stage of integration and collaboration across Africa to understand how it is affecting culture, society, business, and the economy. Speakers included H.E John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana; Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings; Vera Songwe, Country Director for the World Bank; Acha Leke, Director of McKinsey & Company; Ashish Thakkar, CEO of Mara Group.

23 – 24 May 2014: Oxford Africa Conference

The 2014 Oxford Africa Conference was titled ‘African Transformations: Business and Society’. Co-presented by the Oxford Africa Society and Oxford Business Network for Africa, the conference tackled a range of timely issues.While highlighting Africa’s recent achievements and progression, the event also engaged with the key policy and leadership imperatives needed to maintain and advance developments. Speakers included Bob Collymore, CEO of Safaricom; Koos Bekker, former CEO of Naspers; Hakeem Belo-Osagie, Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria; and Kennedy Bungane, CEO of Barclays Africa (outside South Africa).

18 May 2013: Oxford Africa Business Conference

Organised by the Oxford Business Network for Africa, the fifth annual Oxford Africa Business Conference brought together influential business and community leaders, leading academics, industry experts and MBA students from around the world to explore pressing business issues around the theme of ‘Leading from the Frontier’. Speakers included John Mathwasa, Co-founder of SEACOM; H.E Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda; Abdirashid Duale, CEO of Dahabshiil; Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airways; and Soleymane Ba, Vice President of Helios.
